Sometimes people in the game get hacked, so here's a few tips.

First off, don't brag about what you have making yourself a target.

Secondly, be cautious about skype. You link your computers together during that time, and it's easy for a hacker to slip a virus in during that time. Only use skype in the game with people you trust.

Thirdly, never accept files from anyone, unless you trust them, scan it ahead of time with your anti-virus.

Fourthly, scan your computer often. You'd be surprised how often things can and slip past your anti-virus, so scan at least once a week, if not daily.

Some free programs:

Malwarebyte's antimalware
spyware blaster
spybot search & destroy
Avast anti-virus
Clamwin anti-virus
Threatfire
Ad-aware
comodo system cleaner
Zone Alarm Free Firewall
Comodo firewall

You don't need them all--using them all will slow your computer down.

Just get one anti-virus and 1 or 2 anti-malware programs and only 1 firewall.

Safe surfing everyone Wink

Credit card security tips from the RS forums:

This has been posted all over the forums about updates.

The following has been added to the terms of service:

"We reserve the right to charge you for any unauthorized use of your subscription by third parties."

More info from the forums:

Even if you aren't quitting, it would be smart to delete your credit card info from this site at least until jagex does something about the fact that no confirmation is needed for squeal purchases.

Here's how:

account-> upgrade account-> extend membership -> manage credit cards -> delete

((I did this on all 3 of our accts and no credit card info is there. Then I tried to buy more spins and my credit card info was not there. We feel a lot better now!))

***Just canceling sub does NOT remove your saved cc info.***

*You CAN remove your CC details without interfering with your recurring membership:*

"QFC:291-292-8-63573774, page 55, Post from mod frost.

I quote:
"Removing your card details will not stop your recurring subscription and you do not need to save your card details to have a recurring subscription." "

(Thanks El Rahvin)

Another option for keeping recurring membership without worry is to pay through paypal, which at least also requires your paypal pw before purchasing spins (thanks Rogue Dyz*) Please make sure your paypal pw is different than the one you use for runescape if you go that route.

If you want to make sure your info is removed test-buy spins. You don't have to actually purchase them, just get to payment options and make sure nothing is stored (thanks again Rogue Dyz*)

Also, if it makes you feel better you can use store cards for Runescape and not worry about the ability to buy more spins.
